Code of Conduct – General

CEREDIGION SCHOOLS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION 2019-20 Code of Conduct for Association Officials, Players and Spectators

All officials, players and spectators will:

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Association Football.

• Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief.

• Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed.

• Display high standards of behaviour.

• Not condone any forms of bullying. • Promote the positive aspects of Association Football e.g. fair play and supports fully the Football Association of Wales’ ‘Behind the Line, Behind the Team’ campaign.

• Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules of Association Football and play within them, respecting the decisions of the match officials.

• Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials.

• Place the well being and safety of Young People above the development of performance

• Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual.

• Respect young people’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in Association Football.

• Arrive on time for all coaching sessions and games with the correct kit and equipment.

• Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with young people at Association activities.

• Report any concerns in relation to young persons, following written reporting procedures.

• Family spectators should encourage players from the touchline but not offer instructions to the player. This must be left to the managers and coaches. Making mistakes is part of the learning process. It is important to remember that the young players are learning the game and not seasoned professionals.

• Not to post anything nasty or inappropriate on social media which may bring the game into disrepute.

In addition to the above, all Association Officers and appointed volunteers will:

• Hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance.

• Hold DBS clearance certificates.

• Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage an open environment).
